Who is Mel Wright?

My name is Mel Wright, I was born and grew up in Amarillo, TX. Upon graduating from Amarillo High School, I received a basketball scholarship to Oklahoma State University, where I received my bachelor’s in Physical Education. After that, I attended Baylor University and received my master’s in Physical Education. After that, I had a short 3-year career in professional baseball; then became head baseball coach at Amarillo Junior College for 3 years. Then, I returned to OSU where I earned a doctorate in higher education.

After completing my doctorate, I was a professor and Academic Counselor in the athletic department for 8 years at Oklahoma State.  After leaving OSU, I moved into the public school sector, where I served in multiple positions, including coaching and administration. After my public school experiences, I moved back into the collegiate, academic, and coaching arena. My most enjoyable and productive years were spent as Head Women’s Basketball Coach and professor at McPherson College, in McPherson KS.

what makes my process unique

-John B.

“Mel's kindness and experiance made it easy to listen to the feedback I needed after the family business failed. Taking into account our mistakes we're bouncing back better then before!"

“Mel is fantastic! He's kind, yet he doesn't pull any punches. He taught so much about planning ahead; I'm still not over the hump, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel."

-Gary M.
